Our Dream Vacation – 14 Day Cruise Through the Panama Canal

august giveawayOne of the most exciting vacations I have ever taken was when my husband and I did a 14 day cruise several years ago. I remember our trip like it was yesterday.

We flew to Florida and boarded the Celebrity Infinity. Once on board we were escorted to our beautiful balcony cabin. It was the same size as any other cabin but because we brought enough luggage along to last us forever, as we always do, it quickly felt small. No worries though, the balcony had lots of room.

This 14 day cruise was a Panama Canal Cruise.

Have you ever been through the Panama Canal? It is one of those things that you just have to see to believe how it all works. The first time it was used was nearly 100 years ago on August 15, 1914. And it is still being used on a daily basis even while renovations are being done to expand it.

We sailed from Fort Lauderdale through the Panama Canal locks and on to San Francisco. And along the way we stopped at Montego Bay, Jamaica, Cartagena, Columbia, Fuerte Amador, Panama, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, Huatulco, Mexico, Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and of course San Francisco.

Although the Panama Canal is simply incredible the stop we enjoyed the most was in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The first thing you notice as the ship gets close to Cabo is Lover’s Beach. Check it out! This beautiful beach is like its own little island. It is a secluded strip of sand and rock, and you need to take a water taxi to get to it.

We also had to take a shuttle to get from our cruise ship to the marina. Check out all of the huge Yachts in this marina. Amazing!

We did a tour of the town and one of our other favorite things to check out was the Cabo Dolphin Center that invites people to swim with the friendly Pacific Bottlenose dolphins. There is something so therapeutic about swimming with dolphins.

Cabo San Lucas is definitely a place that we would love to return to one day soon.

Sounds like a wonderful holiday! Love the photos.
I recently wrote about one of my favourite holidays:
"Reflections of Puerto de la Cruz and the Sahara Desert".
It was a long time ago, but, so memorable. :-)

That sounds like an awesome vacation! My wife and I went to a Sandals resort in Jamaica for our honeymoon, so that's my favorite vacation to date. Hopefully we'll have some fun ones again in the next few year!

I have been on 5-6 cruises in Europe. I never took the Panama Canal cruise, probably because I live in California. I traveled to Mexico several times (Ensenada, Acapulco, & Cabo San Lucas.

Your pics are fantastic, Sicorra. I love San Cabo Lucas too. :) I can see why this was your favorite vacation. Beyond the joy of traveling, taking two weeks off is such a luxury. You really do get a chance to unwind and relax. Have a great weekend, my friend!

Wow! So many entries! I did a few ... more later.
What's my favorite trip? Too hard to call, we've had quite a few. I would call it a draw between - Harry Potter's England - Belize - Winter In Yellowstone - The Gulfo Dulce, Costa Rica. Ok, I know, it's four, but I just couldn't pick which one of these I liked more than the other! Does it still count for the three points? lol
